World Children’s Day

Tomorrow, Monday, 20th November, we will be marking World Children’s Day.  Everyone should wear any blue clothing they have.  We will also have a collection to support the work of UNICEF.  The Student Council has been busy preparing special activities.  In many classes, children are taking on the role of the teacher to lead lessons.  Two children from each class will be able to take on the role of Principal for an hour.  This past Friday, three members of the Student Council and Margaret went to Galway Bay FM Studios and recorded a piece that will be aired tomorrow at 9.40.  Be sure to tune in!  Also, RTÉ is planning to visit the school tomorrow to do a piece on our celebration as well as our efforts towards becoming a Child Rights School.

Don’t forget to book a parent-teacher meeting on Aladdin Connect.  A reminder that school will close 15 minutes early on Tuesday, 28th November and Thursday, 30th November at 14.15. Afterschool @ KETNS will commence from 14.15 those afternoons.

Family Table Quiz

Sincere thanks to everyone who came to the table quiz on Friday evening.  It was a super occasion with close to 100 in attendance.  Many thanks to the PTA for organising the event.  We look forward to having more events for the families in our school.  The more parents involved in the PTA the easier it is to have such activities to build community, so please consider joining us at our next PTA meeting, which will be announced in the newsletter.

Science Quiz

Speaking of quizzes, two teams represented the school at the Galway Science and Technology Festival Fr Seán Manning Primary School Quiz held at Coláiste Muire Máthair on Friday.  At the end of the final round, one of our teams was tied for first place and narrowly missed out winning the tie-breaker question.  Out of the 44 teams in attendance, our two teams came in 2nd and 3rd place, which is a fantastic result!  Well done!

Texaco Art Competition Calendar

We were delighted to receive in the post the 2024 Texaco Art Competition Calendar to discover that the artwork of one of our pupils, Blanka Matysiak, is one of the 12 featured works chosen among all the winners.  Another great accolade for Blanka!  Her artwork is featured on the July page.
