Upcoming School Closures

The school will be closed for the St Brigit’s Day Bank Holiday on Monday, 5th February.  Also, a reminder that the school will be closed on Friday, 23rd February to facilitate a seminar for teachers about the new Primary Maths Curriculum.

Spring Fair Preparation

The Parent-Teacher Association met this week, and the focus of the meeting was to plan for upcoming events.  The Spring Fair will take place on Saturday, 18th May.  This will be a special fair as we mark the 10th anniversary of our school.  We are currently looking for raffle prizes.  The raffle is a significant aspect of the day, and any help in gathering prizes would be most appreciated.  A letter is available in the office from Claudia that can be given to potential donors of prizes for the raffle.  We’d ask that all raffle prizes are confirmed by Friday, 15th March.

In addition, the PTA is organising two family-friendly evening events.  The first will be a talent show on Friday, 1st March at 18.30.  Both parents and children are invited to participate, and more details will follow.  Also, we will have another family quiz night on Friday, 19th April.

All these events are most successful when many parents are involved in the preparation.  Please join us for our next PTA meeting scheduled for Tuesday, 27th February at 19.00.

World Book Day

Children are invited to dress up as a book character as we mark World Book Day on Thursday, 7th March.  This is advanced notice for those families who would appreciate plenty of time to put together a costume.

Teddy Bear Hospital

The Junior and Senior Infants had a fantastic time at the Teddy Bear Hospital last week.  Many thanks to the Sláinte Society for organising this event.

Credit Union Quiz

Huge congratulations to our two quiz teams who participated in the Credit Union Quiz on Monday night.  Both teams came first in their age category and qualified to move on to the regional level.  Both teams were superb!  Thanks to Claddagh Credit Union for their support and the organisation of the event.

Tesco

We’re delighted to have received a donation of €671 from Tesco in Knocknacarra.  Several children visited this week to collect the cheque.

Peace Proms

Last weekend the choir had a great day as part of the Peace Proms performance and University of Limerick.  The choir were super and had such a great experience singing with a live orchestra of talented young musicians.  Children in 1st to 6th Class are welcome to join the choir when we return to rehearsing on 12th Monday.  Speak to Claudia if your child is interested in joining us.
