St Patrick’s Day Break

The school will be closed on Monday, 16th and Tuesday, 17th March for the St Patrick’s Day holiday.

Spring Fair

Many thanks to everyone who answered the call for raffle prizes.  We have a nice collection of prizes.  We’d kindly ask that all prizes be turned in by Tuesday at the latest.  Everyone is invited to the next Parent-Teacher Association meeting on Wednesday at 19.00 at the school.

Dropping Off and Collecting

An improvement has been noted regarding the drop-off and collecting traffic.  Many thanks for your cooperation.  One more request – please do not turn at the bend in the road or at the first gate as this can cause difficulty for others.  We are brainstorming new traffic management plans which we hope to trial before the end of this year.

Voluntary Contribution

By the end of the week every family should receive a letter related to the annual Voluntary Contribution.  This is an important part of the ongoing financial health of our school.  Your generous contributions over the years have paid for many new things, particularly transport for outings, new equipment and will help us continue to develop our school.  Parents are asked to contribute €50, though it is acknowledged that many families may not be in a position to make a contribution.  Further details can be found in the letter distributed this week.  Thanks, in advance, for your continued support of our learning community.

Green School

Many thanks to those who made a special effort to remove single-use packaging in their lunch boxes.  A number great examples of lunch boxes can be viewed below.  We will do another spot-check to see if we have managed to increase the percentage of children who are bringing a reusable drink container.  The Green School Committee has selected a motto, and the entire school will begin to learn it at this week’s assembly.

FAI Soccer Competition

Well done to the children who represented the school at a recent soccer competition and to Ronan and Martin for organizing the event.

Ceramics with Tatiana

All the classes worked with Tatiana recently on a major shared project that will be site-specific and set up in the Spring on a local beach.  We look forward to seeing how the project progresses!

Rugby Lessons

We’re delighted that Craig from Connacht Rugby is visiting the school for several rugby taster sessions for children in 1st Class and up.
