School Photos

County Photos will be at the school on Wednesday, 11th October to take class and individual photos.

Board of Management

Two parents have expressed willingness to be on the Board of Management.  As one male and one female put themselves forward for nomination, there is no requirement to complete an election.  Sincere thanks and gratitude to Emily King and Ali Donald who will be the parent nominees on the new Board of Management.

Later this month will be the last Board of Management meeting for the current Board.  They have completed a four-year term, helped us weather a rather tumultuous few years and helped our school continue to develop.  Sincere thanks to Liz Daly and Aneil Rawat who were the parent nominees.  Thank you to Vivienne Kelly who was the staff nominee.  As well, thanks to Maggie Hall who was a patron nominee for the last two terms and whose involvement stretches back to the start-up committee who helped open the school.  Thanks to Elaine Keane who was a community nominee for seven years.  Special thanks to Louise Shields who served on the Board for 9 years, first as chair and then as community nominee.  Paul Adams, our current chairperson, is returning as a patron nominee.   Once the new Board is formed, we’ll introduce the members.

We’re delighted with the new bicycle parking shelters that were installed this week as part of the Safe Routes to Schools programme.  We hope they will encourage more families to consider active transport options.  We recommend using a lock to secure your bicycle or scooter.  Also we have a bicycle and a scooter that were found on the school grounds.  Please contact the office if they are yours.

Violin Lessons

Music Generation is offering on-site violin group lessons.  We currently have space for 7 additional children to participate.  These weekly half-hour lessons will take place on Fridays with Ingrid Nicola.  The cost for the year is €120, and an instrument will be provided to participants.  Please sign up with Claudia by Wednesday if your child is interested in participating.

Cumann na mBunscol

Our boys’ Gaelic football team participated in their first Cumann na mBunscol mini-sevens tournament on Wednesday.  They played well, and we look forward to more events for boys and girls for Gaelic football and hurling in the future.

Elections

The children are busy with the committee selection process for the new school year.  It is an exciting time with the elections underway and a very practical demonstration of our school’s lived ethos as a democratic learning community.  Parents are still welcome to join one of the committees which meet monthly on Thursday afternoons.
