Sports Day

The annual Sports Day will take place on Friday, 14th June from 10.00 to 13.00.  We look forward to using the hall, yard and pitch at the school.  We need 20 parent volunteers who would be willing to lead activities (no experience or athletic ability required!)  The next Parent-Teacher Association meeting will take place on Wednesday, 12th June at 19.00 where we will plan the events.  If you’re not able to attend the meeting but are interested in volunteering, please talk to Matt, Vivienne or Claudia.

End-of-Term Assemblies

There will be two different end-of-term assemblies.  The first, for children in Junior and Senior Infants, will take place on Friday, 21st June at 13.00.  The assembly for children in 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class will take place on Tuesday, 25th June at 14.00.  Everyone is most welcome to come to these assemblies where each class will share songs and poems they have learned during the year.  Both assemblies will be followed by ice cream socials organised by the Parent-Teacher Association.  The school yard will be open for parking from 15 minutes before each assembly to ensure we don’t block traffic or park in a way that disturbs our neighbours.  The final day of school is Wednesday, 26th June, with an early dismissal at 12.00 on that day.

STEM Award

We are delighted to announce the school has been awarded a Science Foundation Ireland Plaque of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Award.  A big congratulations to all the children and staff, but particular thanks to Vivienne who spearheaded the project and put together our very successful application.  It will be available to read on our website.

New Playground Markings

A big thank you to Rob who painted new markings in the yard.  It looks fantastic and the children are really delighted with the new markings that are definitely encouraging more active play during yard time.

Sports Committee

A meeting of interested parents and staff to look at how we can improve the sports facilities in our school will take place Wednesday from 18.00 before the regular Parent-Teacher Association meeting.  We will also liaise with the Active School Committee to seek the children’s input.  A significant budget has been allocated by the Board of Management for this purpose.  We hope to meet twice before the end of the year to consider options and implement the plan over the summer months.  Please join us.

School Tours

The Infants had a great time at Turoe Pet Farm for their school tour.  Children in 1st and 2nd Class will be going to Brigit’s Garden on the 18th June and 3rd Class will be going to Eilemental on the 21st June.

Gardening Club

The Gardening Club will meet on Tuesday afternoon from 14.30 on wards.  Parents and children are welcome to join us!  During the last session, a new herb garden was put in behind the school building.  We’ll work on weeding as well as finish planting two other beds and put in place our new composter.

Reading Buddies

The Senior Infants visited the Junior Infant classroom to read the stories they wrote and illustrated.
