Happy Summer!

Happy summer to everyone!  We hope you all are enjoying the break.  A big thank you to everyone who helped make this first year in our new home a great one.  We look forward to seeing everyone on our first day back to school, Thursday, 29th August.

Class Teachers

We bid farewell to Andy and Caoimhe who are relocating to other parts of Ireland.  The recruitment of new teachers is now complete.  We welcome Ronan Dunne who has been working at Galway Educate Together NS previously as well as abroad in Barcelona and Liverpool.  We also welcome Sarah-Jane Gilmore, a familiar face to many, who will be teaching in the school this coming year.  The teachers will be working in the following classrooms:

Junior Infants – Vivienne

Senior Infants – Sarah-Jane

First Class – Ronan

Second Class – Eileen

Third Class – Áine

Fourth Class – Matt

Support Teachers – Ciara and Margaret

School Expenses

The school expenses for the coming school year will be €90 for Junior and Senior Infants and €100 for all other classes.  The increase is partly in response to increases in costs of books and materials but also because all children will now receive 24-hour personal accident insurance.  The details of this insurance cover will be distributed to parents at the end of August.  A reminder that the school expenses go towards the purchase of all school books, all pupil stationery, arts and crafts materials, photocopying, Educate Together subscription and 24-hour personal pupil accident insurance.  The easiest way to pay these expenses is directly into the school account, but be sure to use your name or your child’s name as a reference. We hope these expenses can be paid by the end of August, but please contact Matt or Claudia in confidence to discuss a payment plan if you wish.

End-of-Term Assemblies

Many thanks to all the teachers and children for two fantastic end-of-term assemblies last month.  Also, a big thank you to the Parent-Teacher Association who arranged the ice cream party and especially the very generous parents who donated the waffle bowls for the occasion.  Below are some pictures from the assemblies.

Third Class presented their play Plúirín Sneachta (Snow White) at the end of the year.  Maith sibh, Rang a Trí!  They also had a great time on their school tour to Eile Mental.

Student Council Visit to Bushfield Care Centre

The Student Council and all of Third Class visited Bushfield Care Centre just before the end of the year.  They sang for the residents and interviewed them.  It was such a positive  experience we are planning on returning in the new school year.
